Software Status Bulletin
OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition M83xxAA
Known Problem Report as of Feb 19 2013 9:56AM
Preface
-------------------------
This Software Status Bulletin (SSB) documents all known problems in the software
product designated above. The SSB is derived from Known Problem Reports (KPR)
which result from user problems that have been classified as documentation
problems or software defects. When a KPR is written, an identifying number is
assigned to it, and the KPR is added to the next edition of the SSB.
User inputs that have been classified as Enhancement Requests are not documented in the SSB. User problems that have been submitted, but that have not been classified by the time the SSB is generated are not included in the SSB.
How to use the SSB
-------------------------
When you experience a problem with a product, first check this SSB to see if the
problem has been reported already, and if there is a temporary workaround
available for the problem, or if the problem has already been fixed by a new
revision. If the problem is not listed in this SSB then you may wish to report
it to the Response Center or to your field support representative.
To determine if your problem is documented in this SSB, first look in the "Keyword Index" section of the SSB. Under each keyword is a listing of one-line descriptions of related KPRs. If any of these sound like yours, locate the KPR # in the "Known Problem Reports" section of the SSB, and read the full KPR. The KPRs in the "Known Problem Reports" section are sorted by KPR #.
There are two sections in the SSB:
Keyword Index: This index is categorized by keyword. For each KPR there is a
brief description and a KPR #. A KPR may be associated with more than one
keyword.
Known Problem Reports: This section contains KPRs, with all the available information relevant to the problem. KPRs in this section are sorted by KPR #.

When designing a new report template with Intelligent Reporting, it is inconvenient to access the data for the internal standard amounts. If the user drags and drops the report item “DAInternalStandardAmounts” on the report, text will be reported. This text contains a ';'-separated list of the ISTD values. If a name for a specific value is given, a name-values pair is reported like 'name1=value1; name2=value2'. If only a number is given for the ISTD, a 'ISTD-" prefix is added to the specific number: 'ISTD-1=value1; ISTD-2=value2’. So the field reports the name and the amount of each ISTD, separated by semicolon.Temporary Solution:
To report the amount of a specific ISTD, an expression needs to be set for the text field.
Example:
=choose(1,split(First(Sample_DAInternalStandardAmount),";"))
reports the amount of the first ISTD in the list.

The "Method modified after loading" flag occurs after lauching the sequence. Started the sequence from the ChemStation software. The method modification status indicates that the method has changed when it was not changed and the report will indicate 'modified after loading'. The GC had a calibrated capillary column that was changed to a packed column. When using this method that now has a packed column, the GC reports an error in the length parameter, and that is causing the method download not to reset the 'modified after loading' flag.Temporary Solution:

When running a sequence where consecutive runs use the same method using the ALS on a data system containing 6890 driver version 6.10.027 or earlier, the data system may proceed to start a new run before the GC has equilibrated after the conclusion of the previous run. This is more likely if the method contains a post run period of sufficient length that the GC equilibrates to the post-run conditions and the data system has completed data analysis well before the end of the post-run period. For the split/splitless inlet, it is possible to run the septum purge in either standard mode or "switched" mode. In the switched mode, the septum purge is turned off during the injection cycle so that the only flow out of the inlet is through the column. The MMI would benefit from having this mode as well, particularly for splitless and solvent vent modes. In both modes on the MMI, the septum purge does not remain off until the inlet switches back to the purge state.Temporary Solution:

When using a 7890A GC with Split Splitless inlet to perform backflush the Inlet Setpoint and Actual Pressure assume negative values on the GC and Chemstation display during backflush. This occurs with a splitter (>2 columns) or with a purged union (Primary column plus restrictor). The columns must be running in "Flow" mode. A similar symptom is the inlet pressure gets set to "0.00" PSI during backflush rather than the wizard recommended value of "1.0" PSI.Temporary Solution:
The workaround is to set the columns to "pressure" mode then back to flow and re-save the method.Fix Information:

Started a run and observed that the inlet's temperature increased. Sometimes the SS inlet’s temperature is increasing at the start of a run. Looking at the xml contents of the methods, there was an initial hold time of 0.05 min and a ramp associated with that inlet, even though this ramp did not show on either the GC’s front panel or in the chemstation’s method editor. The behavior observed was due to using a method originally developed for an MMI on a SS Inlet in that same location. The software will automatically lower the oven max temperature when a low temp column is installed. This is to protect the column. The software does not rely on the User to do this to avoid damaging expensive columns. The requested enhancement is to automatically increase the oven maximum to match the higher oven max of the newly installed column. In the 6890 RC.NET driver, changed the GC column configuration to have the back inlet go to the back column to the back detector. This change was not reflected in the instrument diagram as it is still showing the back inlet going to the front column to the back detector.Temporary Solution:
After the configuration change is made to the column connections, the workaround is to shut down the ChemStation software and restart to reflect the new configuration changes. Beginning with B.04.03 DSP1 [54], after updating the column configuration, save and reload the method will update the instrument diagram. Classic 68xx driver works correctly.Fix Information:

Upgrading from B.01.03 to B.04.02, it is no longer possible to add new columns to the GC column catalog (database) in Rev. B.04.02. The following error is shown: The Catalog File cannot be opened. If needed, you may obtain an appropriate replacement file from Agilent. C:\Chem32\CORE\...\DRIVERS\catalog.mdbTemporary Solution:
The problem is that there are several columns that have the same manufacturer and model number. Our new database software doesn’t handle this. The newer database software (in B.04.02 for example) no longer allows duplicates of manufacturer + model number. i.e., there can only be one HP HP-5 in the database. Note: the new software will inform the user that the model number “xxx” is already in use and request that a different value be chosen. (The user is returned to the original entry screen with all the info filled in.) In theory, customers should not be creating more than one catalog entry with the same model number. It’s like having two items in the LLBean catalog with the same order number! But, of course, the older software allowed the duplicates. Temporary Fix: Before upgrading, fix the problem with the column database duplicates while running B.01.03 for example. Review the column catalogs and make sure there are no duplicates and fix any that exist before the upgrade.Fix Information:

When running a sequence where consecutive runs use the same method using the ALS on a data system containing 6890 driver version 6.10.027 or earlier, the data system may proceed to start a new run before the GC has equilibrated after the conclusion of the previous run. This is more likely if the method contains a post run period of sufficient length that the GC equilibrates to the post-run conditions and the data system has completed data analysis well before the end of the post-run period.Temporary Solution:

Names for data files, methods and sequences should only contain alphanumeric characters. Special characters like ",#,$, %, &, @, ? and others should not be used and can in general cause trouble. The intelligent reporting of OpenLAB CDS rev. A.01.02 does not support displaying exponential baseline constructions in chromatograms. A straight line is shown instead of an exponential curve. Peak area and height calculations are not affected.Temporary Solution:

The chromatogram plots of Intelligent Reporting of OpenLAB CDS A.01.04 and earlier do not show satisfying contrast on black & white printers. This is especially true if the printer defaults are set to eco mode.Temporary Solution:
n/aFix Information:
Intelligent Reporting of OpenLAB CDS A.01.05 offers the option to print all signals in black in order to increase the contrast on b/w printers.
The signal plot thickness of Intelligent Reporting of OpenLAB CDS A.01.04 and earlier may appear inhomogenous and peaks show different line thickness compared to rnages with no peaks. The quality of the chromatogram print out doesn't look satisfying. The problem is caused by a data compression algorithm affecting chromatogram plots where the signal data rate is too high in comparison to the size of the printout. E.g. in case there are 3 or more data points per pixel repesenting a time interval.Temporary Solution:
The plot compression can be prevented by choosing a larger scaling of the time axis and stretching the signal in the direction of the chromatogram's time axis. Chromatograms showing larger run times (> 60 min) should be plotted on landscape paper format or the chromatogram could be cut in 2 or 3 time slices to fit on a portrait paper format.Fix Information:
If you encounter the described problem and do not want to enlarge the time axis scaling you can use the following procedure.
Intelligent Reporting of OpenLAB CDS A.01.05 introduces a new custom parameter
to turn data compression off. This parameter needs to be edited in the RDL file directly.

The method information part intelligent reports exported to XLS file format is partially hidden. This issue occurs due to the limitation of the Excel renderer. Basically any report item while being rendered causes Excel's cells to merge. To suppress the undesired merging of cells the parameter ‘CanGrow’ is set to true, and 'AutoSize’ of the excel row fails as a consequence. To read more about this refer to the ‘Merging Cells’ paragraph on the link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159836.aspx Also find a suggested workaround for the issue at http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/163236/reporting-services-row-height-error-on-export-to-excelTemporary Solution:

Working with report template editor of OpenLAB CDS A.01.03 or ealier it happens frequently that reports show additional empty pages. They are typically introduced by dragging and dropping a large table to the center of a template or by adding more columns to an existing table. The width of the template editing panel gets expanded in order to show all the content added. However, when the table gets shrinked or moved the additional width does not get automatically released again.Temporary Solution:
Check for a thick black vertical line at the right hand side of the editing pane. Move this line to the left until it hits the header box. If this still does not remove the empty page, the RDL template file needs to be examined with a simple text editor, like Microsoft Notepad. Search the entire template for data fields called "Fix Information:" and check for values greater 8 inches. Depending on the paper format and the page margins those values are potential troublemakers and should be reduced to e.g. 7.8in.
The auto-shrinking of the editing pane has been improved with revision A.01.04 of OpenLAB CDS A.01.04.

Intelligent Reporting of OpenLAB CDS offers the option to add or select user defined report parameters in the report preview. By refreshing the preview these parameters can be applied to e.g. calculation or view filters. When generating a PDF file based on the report preview of OpenLAB CDS ChemStation, the report gets rendered again and the parameters switch back to their default values.Temporary Solution:
For user of OpenLAB Data Analysis: This problem can be avoided by printing the report to a PDF printer (e.g. ChemStation PDF printer) If external report parameters are used in calculations it is generally recommended to include the plain values in a report template section in order to allow a result verification and to ensure result consistency.Fix Information:

Intelligent Reporting of OpenLAB cDS A.01.04 or higher offers the possibilty to change report parameters interactively, if the report template is setup accordingly. When changing one or more parameters and switching from "Report Preview" to "Print Preview" (or vice versa), not all changed parameters are applied to the report. In case of multi-select boxes the mouse focus needs to moved to another field in order to submit the changed value. The changes do not affect results, only the display and printing of chromatographic curves and baselines.
As opposed to earlier workflows, it is no longer possible to change the method in Recalculate Last Result mode and create a report afterwards.Temporary Solution:
n/aFix Information:
This is the intended behavior.
When a result set is analyzed with a master method, i.e a method from the method path, it will use a report template from the result set. The template name is taken from the method. Since the template is not copied to the result set automatically, no report will be created.Temporary Solution:
N/AFix Information:
That is the intended workflow. Users who intend to use master methods might want to use report templates that are not part of the result set. The results of the analysis with different methods can be compared in a common template in the Review mode.

When a sequence is partially reprocessed with a new method, the Navigation Table does not reflect the changed method. The changed method will only be displayed immediately after reprocessing, but not when loading the sequence set into the Navigation Table again at a later point in time. This implies that also the old sequence method is loaded when loading the affected runs with the option "use sequence method". Reprocessing of the complete sequence is not affected by this issue.Temporary Solution:

The ChemStation OpenLAB option offers the option to calculate the peak performance parameters each time a ChemStation report gets generrated. Without having this option selected, ChemStation calculates those numbers on demand only. This is heavily dependant on the ChemStation report style selected (Short, Performance+Noise, Extended Performance report, etc.) If the option is selected, the performance parameters aof a standard perfromance report are calculated and written to teh ACAML result file. However, the noise and extended performance calculation results are not generated.Temporary Solution:
The calculation of all extended performance and noise parameters can be triggered by the following procedure: - turn off the "Always calculate performance parameters" option in the ChemStation Open LAB configuration - add the following Customized Data Analysis Command to the run time checklist of the method in use: macro C:\Chem32\REPSTYLE\shortutl.mac; print USR_CalcPerfNoise$() (Where c:\Chem32 needs to be replaced with the current ChemStation installation path) - select a report style e.g. SHORT, that does not trigger the performance or noise calculation on it's own. This procedure would generate the maximum content of the ACAML result file in respect to peak perfromance parameters.Fix Information:

When a Sequence or Single Injection Run cannot be transferred to the OpenLAB ECM
storage, the transfer process is paused and an error message is displayed in the
Queue Management tool for the first item in the queue.
Users with the necessary privilege can start the Queue Management tool and resume
the transfer process. After a successful transfer the item is removed from the
queue otherwise it remains in the queue.
We discovered that items with the following error message “Object Reference not set
to an instance of an object” appear to the end user as being transferred after
resuming the queue but they are in fact deleted from the queue although the transfer
is failing again.
Subsequent reprocess of such sequence(s) will not pause the queue and will not be
transferred to the OpenLAB ECM storage.
If the option "Cleanup Data on Shutdown" is selected, the local copy of the data will
also be deleted when shutting down the ChemStation.
In such a case, the data is lost and can't be recovered.
The error “Object Reference not set to an instance of an object” can be caused
among others by:
• Incorrectly configuring the ECM Authentication in the OpenLAB Control Panel
• Manually appending text at the end of the Server string in Transfer Settings
of the ECM Preferences
• Using “Tokens” (Instrument Name, Instrument No, Operator or Computer Name)
for the Drawer and/or Folder or manually typing the Drawer and Folder in
the Transfer Settings and not having the privilege to add folders in OpenLAB ECM.
• Users having a project role in OpenLAB Control Panel where the privilege
“Save to ECM” is not granted.
• Selecting in Sequence Parameters a Remote Data Path having a “/” in the name
(e.g. 2011/07)
Temporary Solution:
As an immediate action and until a solution is available, we recommend on all
OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition systems (Workstations, Networked Workstations and AIC’s)
connected to ECM to:
• Start the ChemStation Administration tool
(Start | Programs | Agilent Technologies | OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition)
• Select the option “Use these settings for all Instances on this computer
• DO NOT select any of the checkboxes in the Automatic Data Transfer Settings
and in the Transfer Management Settings.
• Select the two checkboxes in the Audit Trail section
This will disable the transfer to ECM for all Instruments configured in the computer.
Fix Information:
A solution for the defect is currently being worked on. The fix will be made available as soon as possible.
The LCDF storage path for saving methods to ECM is user specific.A user that logs on to ECM from different instruments will always save to "his" path by default. While this is the intended behaviour, it can be confusing. Method developers would prefer a workflow that makes the path instrument specific.Temporary Solution:
Check the folder path before uploading methods. Consider including the instrument name in the folder name.Fix Information:
Fix considered for a future revision.
On a stand alone installation, the ECM authentication mode has been set. Due to a hardware problem (or something else), the current ECM authentication mode must be switched to a different ECM server with a different account. When the user tries to change the ECM authentication to a different ECM server and enters the new hostname, the administrator cannot be selected. The user is back on the previously configured ECM system.Temporary Solution:
A workaround is to set authentication mode to none and then go to the new ECM server.Fix Information:

The automatic reprocessing is requried to populate the ChemStation navigation table. The reprocessing stops with error message: Sequence was aborted due to a file access error. Please restart your sequence. Restarting the sequence reprocessing does not resolve the error.Temporary Solution:
Affected sequences cannot be reporcessed automatically, but the runs are available as single runs. Re-calibration using the calibration samples is possible interactively. Result review can be automated by using the auto-stepping feature of recalculation mode.Fix Information:
This defect will be fixed in ChemStation rev. B.04.03 Service Pack 1 as well as rev. C.01.04.

The upload from the ChemStation “Import/Commit commands” end up in the queue, the execution from the queue creates new document centric audit trail entries at the end of the upload process. By OpenLAB ChemStation Edition C.01.04 the requirement for ECM's remote data path (LCDF) became more strict than before. If for editing the Sequence Parameters dialog is opened, and a backslash at the LCDF's begin is missing, the builtin check of this dialog-box will demand a manual correction by the user. This can happen especially once loading a sequence template file from an earlier version of OpenLAB ChemStation Edition. The later release of OpenLAB ChemStation Edition (like e.g. C.01.05) will tolerate and correct the missing leading backslash at ECM's remote datat path (LCDF) in Sequence Parameters dialog automatically. Execution of sequences by OpenLAB ChemStaation Edition is not affected. I.e. sequence templates do NOT have to be corrected, neither for sequence execution nor for sequence reprocessing.Temporary Solution:
Leaving the opened Sequence Parameters Dialog by OK is interdicted until all parameters are in valid ranges. This now for OpenLAB ChemStation C.01.04 requires the remote data path (LCDF) for ECM to start with a leading backslash. If at some sequence template (e.g. from an earlier version of OpenLab ChemStation Edition) this character was missing, it now has to be inserted. Only then the Sequnece Parameters dialog can be successfully closed and left with OK-button.Fix Information:

In the tailing part of a peak, it may occur that the inflection point (needed for the calculation of the tangent peak width) is not correctly determined. The problem results from the algorithm applied to find the inflection point: It is done by the first/second derivate of the peak shape but at the tail of the peak, the derivates of the "noise" on the signal may have about the same value as the tail it self. As the calculation looks for the minimum/maximum value of the second derivative, a wrong point may be identified for the inflection point.Temporary Solution:

When using "New Exponential" as tangent skim mode, incorrect areas may be calculated in case of tangent-skimmed peaks. In these cases the tangent-skimmed peak will not be integrated at all, while the main peak is reported with an area that is too large. The defect is most pronounced when the tangent-skimmed peak is very small. The likelihood of being impacted by this issue also decreases substantially with increasing number of data points collected per peak. If detector settings are chosen according to the recommendations in the ChemStation on-line help (data rate, detector peak width) the peaks are defined by 15+ data points and data collected with these methods are not affected by this issue. The settings of the instrument specific default methods (DEF_LC.M, DEF_GC.M) take care of this, with the exception of older instrument hardware (e.g. GC 5890, 5 Hz default sampling rate), high data volumes (LC/MSD, full scan mode), and fast chromatography techniques (Fast GC, LC Rapid Resolution). The high information density produced by these detection techniques always require adjustment of the default detector sampling rates according to the recommendations in the ChemStation on-line help.Temporary Solution:

The annotation of the tangent peak width in the performance tool is done by highlighting the part the baseline defined by the intersection with the tangents. It has been considered as misleading, because the drawing suggests that the tangent width is the length of the baseline segment. As a workaround fix, the Logbook file can be opened independently from ChemStation as a text file: in the Windows Explorer environment, browse to the C:\Chem32\1\TEMP directory and open the INSTR1.LOG file.Fix Information:
To correct this issue, ensure that the LC/MS instrument SmartCard has the proper Manufacturing Date encoded in the proper format - an Agilent representative may be required to complete this task. Fiixed in C.01.03

When a sequence has been run with cyclic calibration, it is not possible to change the sample type for the calibration runs to Sample. When this is done and the sequence is reprocessed, the sequence structure is corrupted. The sequence cannot be loaded in the Navigatio Table. The Navigation Table will not be usable and the ChemStation has to be closed and reopened. In Cyclic calibrations the structure of the sequence, the order of runs and the file naming depend very much on the sequence table setup. Later changes will cause conflicts.Temporary Solution:

The following defect affects the usage of statistical functions as part of aggregator functions: When using report template editor of OpenLAB Intelligence Reporter rev. A.02.01 (with or without SP1) or OpenLAB CDS A.01.01 (ChemStation or EZChrome Edition) the results of standard deviation and variance calculations are switched. The standard deviation function calculates the variance, whereas the variance calculation returns the standard deviation. Note: This defect does not affect simple table column statistics, but the aggregator functions only.Temporary Solution:
Add the variance calculation and change the field label to STDV and vice versa. Note: After applying the hot fix described in the next section, the report templates need to be adjusted if the workaround has been applied.Fix Information:
This defect is fixed in OpenLAB Intelligence Reporter A.02.01 Hot Fix 4 and OpenLAB CDS A.01.01 Hot Fix 2. The hotfixes are available for download on https://www.chem.agilent.com/en-US/Support/Downloads/Pages/default.aspx
With OpenLAB CDS ChemStation A.01.04 a new time stamp for calibration table changes got introduced. The data analysis method (DAmethod) timestamp does no longer get update by a simple re-calibration. The introduction of the new time stamp allows a more granular tracing of DA method changes.Temporary Solution:
n/aFix Information:
Existing calibration report templates need to be updated to show the calibration table modification time stamp instead of or in addition to the DAmethod change time stamp.
If the number formatting scheme "1234.000" is used the selected number of digits is not shown in case the last digit is zero. The number 1.340 is displayed as 1.34, which does not contain the same information as initially intended. This defect afects also the rounding mechanism used for peak labels.Temporary Solution:
Use formatting scheme "1,234.000", which is not affected by the defect. For chromatogram labeling (e.g. retention time), the expression FORMATNUMBER(Fields!PEAK_RETENTIONTIME.Value,3,True,False,True) can be copied to the expression editor of the peak lable. This syntax is taken from the RDL template file containg a result table with the correct formatting of the retention time column. The FORMATNUMBER command is not available in the expression builder, but still a valid and supported command. It can also be applied to other data fields containing numbers.Fix Information:
There is currently no fix planned.
The following defect affects the Report Template Editor of OpenLAB CDS A.01.04, OpenLAB ECM Intelligent Reporter A.02.04, as well as OpenLAB Data Analysis A.01.01: When using a string to number conversion function (val()) on a result table column, the RSD calculation on this column does not return a number. On top of that, the report temaplate gets partially corrupted and cannot be loaded to the Report Template Editor. This defect mainly affects calculations using custom fields/custom parameters as these numbers are stored as string and need to converted to numbers, first.Temporary Solution:
- Create a backup copy of the affected report template file (*.RDL - Open the RDL file with a text editor, like Microsoft Notepad - Search for the string "/Avg(val" and verify the expression reflects a division of a standard deviation by the average of a data field - Delete everything from "/Avg(val" until ")*100" - Search for the next string "/Avg(val" and repeat the delete operation - save the template The corruption of the temaplte is resolved now. As the calculation of the RSD has been modified it appears now as the absolute standard deviation in the column properties/Summary calculations dialog of the Report Template Editor. To calculate the RSD: - select the AVG calulation and save it as a variable, e.g. A - repeatt the same for the STDV. Save it as e.g. B Add a new field under the table using the expression =B/A. If you format the result as percentage it gets automatically mutiplied by 100.Fix Information:
A hot fix is currently investigated.
The following defect may affect the report template editor of OpenLAB CDS installations on Windows XP operating systems: Whenever adding a chromatogram to a template or loading or applying a template with chromatograms, the following error message is shown: Could not load file or assembly 'Agilent.ChromPlot.Infrastructure, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=26d0ba2f646bead1' or one of its dependencies. Internal grouping of tables and usage of calculation variables cannot be applied at the same time. In cases where the table contains an expression that is saved as a calculation variable it is not possible to define a table internal group. Whenever you setup a group it is not saved and not applied. In cases where a grouped table gets extended by column that defines a new expression saved as a calculation variable, the expression is not calculated and the variable is not saved when previewing the report.Temporary Solution:
In order to apply statistical calculations (average, standard deviation, RSD, etc.) on calculated results, the results need to be stored in an array rather than a single variable. Consult the report template editor on-line on how to use category aggregators to define a result array.Fix Information:
There is currently no fix planned.
Enhanced calculations often require storing results in variables to be used in further calculations. If a table contains a calculation expression with previously defined variables, the statistical summary calculations on the column return "NaN".Temporary Solution:
In order to calculate statistics on table columns including calculation expressions with variables, the results of this line-by-line calculation need to be stored in an array for further processing. Consult the on-line help for the usage of "category aggregator" to set-up such an array.Fix Information:
There is currently no fix planned.
Whenever a template description gets deleted from the template properties dialog a new description can't be entered if the template has been saved with the empty description field. The usage of OR operators in report filter conditions is only allowed when combining several different report parameters to one filter expression. In cases where a report parameter may fulfill multiple filter conditions (e.g. Instrument Name = Instrument A or Instrument B), the report template editor does not allow using an OR operator. This is a limitation due to the definition of the operators available for filtering in report rendering (Microsoft Reporting Services). http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms154029(v=sql.90).aspx. In particular, there is no "OR" at all.Temporary Solution:
The exception is the "IN" operator, which allows a FilterExpression to be compared against a list of FilterValues. The desired filtering may also be achieved by using wildcards (*) in combination with a CONTAINS condition. For number, the usage of > and < conditions could be used to achieve the desired filtering. For external report parameters (e.g. filtering for multiple sample types) the following JOIN statement could be used in the expression editor of the filter: [=Join(Report_Parameter_0, " ").Contains(Sample_Type 1) = True] = "True"Fix Information:
There is currently no fix possible.
The various time stamp formats offered by the Report Template Editor does not offer the combination of dd/mm/yyyy plus time stamp.Temporary Solution:
The format of the time stamps can be modified by using Microsoft Business Intelligence Studio or simple a text editor, like Microsoft Notepad.
- open the report temaplte file (*.RDL)
- search the string "toString"
- Modify the following section like
ToString("MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss")
to e.g.
ToString("dd/mm/yyyy HH:mm:ss")
- save the RDL file and validate the changes.
Note: The Report Template Editor cannot interpret the time stamp format correctly and will show an error filed in the editor window. However, the time stamp format is correctly applied on the reports.
Fix Information:
RTE Support of the (dd/mm/yyyy and time) time stamp format is considered for a future relaese.

Edit the Specify Report section of a method. In the Chromatogram Output, you can select e.g. "Portrait" or "Landscape". It would be expected that "Landscape" means that the chromatogram is printed in landscape format. But actually it means that is printed rotated by 90 degrees in comparison to the orientation of the printer setup. I.e., if you set Landscape in File -> Printer Setup, the chromatograms are printed in Portrait.Temporary Solution:

The peak performance parameters have been modified in ChemStation revision B.04.03 to provide better peak width evaluation for chromatograms with high data rates. This ne algorithm sometimes fails to find the correct inflection points. As a result peak width at baseline (tangent peak widths) can be reported incorrectly. Consequently parameters calculated based on this peak width (tangent resolution and tangent plates) are incorrect as well.Temporary Solution:
A patch for B.04.03 is available on request.Fix Information:
Fixed in revision B.04.03 SP1.
The Mass-Based Purification (Fraction Collection) report is missing information in RC.NET mode; this same information is available in Classic mode. The "Mass" column in the report should specify which detected mass(es) triggered the fraction collection; this feature is currently available in Classic mode only. Additionally, the Fraction Tick Marks displayed are incorrect as is the BeginTime & EndTime information in the report Fraction Information section. The Fraction Tick Marks do not line up accurately with the collected fractions triggered by the LC/MS; these values have the MS Delay Time added to them, which is incorrect.Temporary Solution:
To determine which masses triggered Fraction Collection or what the actual Fraction Collection BeginTime and EndTime values are, open the affected ChemStation data file (.D folder) and open the file MBFC.ini. This MBFC.INI file contains the Mass-Based Fraction Collection triggering events, including Mass, Collection ON, and Collection OFF information. Do not modify this file. The format of MBFC.INI must be interpreted linearly.Fix Information:
Fixed in OpenLAB C.01.05.

Doing preview of a report with the method settings to screen only works fine for 25 days. After that, the number used in the filename of the temporary.pdf report file shown in the report preview is getting larger than MAX int (2.147.483.647) and causes a formatting error during the conversion to a string value. After again about 25 days it starts over with 0 and works again for 25 days.Temporary Solution:
The number used for the temp file name is the windows OS tick count, and it gets larger than MAX int after 24 days. It is reset after every reboot.Fix Information:

The Short_ESTD.RDL report template (and all related rdl templates) contains a data field "Calibration data modification time" which is not printed if reporting is triggered from the review view. This time stamp is not stored in the result file but it is the change time stamp of the currently loaded method in the Data Analysis view. Hence, this time stamp is not available in the review view.Temporary Solution:
n/aFix Information:
OpenLAB CDS ChemStation C.01.04 introduced a new compound specific and more granular time stamp "CalibrationCurveLastModifiedDate". This time stamp gets stored in the result file and remains with the result. Report templates need to be adjusted in order to print this new time stamp.
The Short_ESTD.RDL report template (and all related rdl templates) contains a data field Calibration data modification time. The Polarity Switch Delay parameter is incorrectly recorded in the ACQ.TXT file that is generated with the run. Only the default parameter of 50 msec is shown for 6130, 6140 and 6150 systems. This gives the impression that the method values are being ignored. However, when Hyperterminal was used to query the "MPST" value directly, it was found that the correct Polarity Switch Delay value was being used. Therefore, the correct Polarity Switch Delay parameter is being used during acquition; the recorded value is simply incorrect.Temporary Solution:

Sequence does not run or will abort if the currently loaded method vial range is different than the vail range of the next method in the sequence table. Set up two methods: Method E with injection source set to headspace (valid vials 1-111) Method A with injection source set to ALS sampler with tray. (valid vials 1-150) Construct a sequence Vial Method 1 A 1 E 130 A 2 E If method E is the currently loaded active method then this sequence will not validate because the first method in the sequence (method A) has a vial range that is valid for an ALS. The vial numbers are checked against method E which has a vial range for the headspace. The sequence cannot be run. If method A is the currently loaded active method, then this sequence will validate and start running. The workaround is to turn off all sampling diagrams and instrument diagrams in all 3 views of Method&Run Control, and then shut down and re-start the Chemstation. It should be possible to turn the views back on after startup.Fix Information:

When the "Save Sequence" privilege is granted to a user, this user will be able to create and save Sequence Template(s) or Easy Sequence Template(s). Without this privilege, the "Save Sequence" and "Save Sequence As..." menus will be greyed out. In addition, the "Easy Sequence Setup" tab will not be visible. It is also intended that users will be able to use the "Save Easy Sequence", "Save Easy Sequence as..." and "Save and Add to Queue" buttons from within the Easy Sequence tab.Temporary Solution:

On ChemStation CDS clients of an remote AIC there are issues with all toolbar's listboxes (signal list, calibration table configuration etc.). Several problems have been observed on various ChemStation revisions that were the result of one common cause: Video settings that were adjusted for best appearance can cause graphic artifacts and can even cause the ChemStation software to crash.Temporary Solution:
Adjust the display settings for best performance rather than for best appearance. This will free resources and prevent video artifacts from anti-aliasing or filtering attempts by the video driver. The procedures below refer to Windows Classic screens and Control Panel in Classic View. The following steps are recommended depending on the operating system: Windows XP ----------------- 1) Go to Start > Control Panel > System. On the Advanced Tab press the settings button in the Performance section. Under Visual Effects select "Adjust for best performance". Press the OK button. 2) Go to Start > Control Panel > Display. On the Settings tab press the Advanced button. On the Troubleshooting tab set the slider for Hardware acceleration to None. Press the OK button. Windows Vista and Windows 7 ------------------------------------------- 1) Go to Start > Control Panel > System. Select Advanced system settings. On the Advanced Tab ress the Settings... button in the Performance section. Under Visual Effects select "Adjust for best performance". Press the OK button. 2) Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools. Select Services. Right click on the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager. In the context menu select Properties. Stop the service. Set the startup type to Disabled. This disables the Aero-Glass look.Fix Information:

Connect to a 68xx Classic driver instrument. The old sampling diagram is correctly displayed in the top to bottom column. Select View\Sampling diagram to make it go away, then select again to make it reappear. Only the column reappears. The turret or tray display is not shown again in that session. If the user starts the ChemStation in online the sample turret and run start button are shown in Method and run control. But after the user goes to Data Analysis and back to Method and Run Control the turret picture and start button disappear.Temporary Solution:
Close and reopen the chemstation session and the turret displays again. The RC.NET driver does not have this problem. The user can use the RC.NET driver. Record the IP address, delete the 68xx GC and then add it back again using the RC.NET driver.Fix Information:

On ChemStation AIC’s (ChemStation Instrument Controllers), few dialogs are sometimes not properly displayed (e.g. Buttons or checkbox items missing). This has been mainly observed on the Print Method and Edit Entire Method dialogs.Temporary Solution:
n/aFix Information:
A fix for this issue is available in C.01.03 Hotfix04 and higher. To fix this issue, a delayed repaint of the dialogs and an enumeration of all controls within the dialogs are performed. This has been implemented for the following dialogs: Run Time Checklist, Method Information, Edit Entire method, and Print Method. The fix affects the display of the dialogs. Functionality of the items in the dialogs is not affected.

FPD checkout macro used for FPD sample test. This FPD macro uses "autoint.mac" . OL CDS ChemStation C.01.04 no longer includes "autoint.mac" in the CORE directory. The following message occurs when loading the FPD Checkout macro: "Could not open file: C:\CHEM32\CORE\AUTOINT.MAC"Temporary Solution:
Copy "autoint.mac" from OL CDS ChemStation C.01.03 and add it to the Core directory of OL CDS ChemStation C.01.04 .Fix Information:
The macro code has been updated and does the following: •Checks to see if the “AutoIntegrate” macro has already been loaded. If so, it does nothing. •If “Autointegrate” macro has not been loaded, it looks for the file autoint.mac. If the file is found, it is loaded. •If autoint.mac is not found, it looks for the file sig_integ.mcx. If that file is found, it is loaded. The new macros work with or without autoint.mac. Autoint.mac is found in the CORE directory up until C.01.03. Beginning in C.01.04, autoint.mac is no longer included in Core. Autoint.mac is now part of sig_integ.mcx. The eLibrary User Contributed Software has been updated with the updated macros. They are also attached.
